Silence Broken, Memoirs of Winter on Georgian Bay

Happy Spring!

YES!! It's finally here, and we have flowers blooming!

I am out of hibernation.

I know you are all used to me disappearing for the winter months, and usually it is for our migration south to warmth and sea shore, well this year that was not the case.

As most of you know, We welcomed our sweet sweet little baby Rio into the world at the end of October, and since then, life has changed exponentially.

On December 30th we embarked on a journey, literally a new life.

Moving north to Meaford. Yup, all the way up there. (It actually doesn't feel so far now that we are here!!)

Our family adventure has been deep and powerful in the fullness of everything. Full of laughter, sadness, loss, excitement, newness, dreams come true, millions of projects, and even hoola hooping :)

Emiliano became a tractor mechanic and I, challenged to slow down and hermit myself to the depths of the Georgian bay winter..... Lot's of stars, snowshoeing, warm baths and nursing....

So many of you have been checking up on us and we appreciate all the love and visits.

I never could have dreamt of such a challenging, yet authentic magical time.

Why you ask, pack my family up and move up here, away from family, friends and studio...

Well.....

Connecting Nature, food and clean air and water is our priority and I want my kids (and myself) to grow up playing in the forest, growing food and building fires....NOW there is irony in this as one of my greatest challenges in moving up here has been our crappy internet. Our only internet option is satellite and for those who have never experienced satellite internet, well, just take a trip back through memory lane back to dial up.... I have literally been forced off of the internet for weeks on end.... And am skilled in the practice of patience on the computer now.

Time off the computer is part of why we came here, but its harder than you may think to disconnect.

We have found Meaford to be a lovely warm and tight knot community, full of kind souls and hard workers....

We have been lovingly welcomed and are so excited for all the future connections and possibilities...

Which I have to say, has been the most beautiful and magical winter I have spent in years!!!

Studio news:

Renos are starting this weekend, which I am sooooo excited about.

We are committing to using almost all recycled and reclaimed materials for the studio and that has been made very easy by the Owen Sound Re-Store.... My daily ritual includes a stop there... you never know what you will find... So far, all windows, framing materials, drywall and flooring have been found here.... What a treasure!!!

I am working on a spring/summer schedule for the studio in the Glen which is still open every weekend Friday and Saturday. I will be coming down every 2 weeks and will be taking appointments for orders etc... just e-mail me if you are unsure whether I am there when you want to come by.

So far the dates that you will actually find me in the studio (a rare occasion these days!!)

April 24th and 25th

May 8th and 9th

Thank you all soooo much for your patience and understanding in this magical and deep time of transition and dream building!

New Work will come soon.... I am deeply inspired, and just need to settle into the new routine of traveling a ways to create....

I have so much to share, which I'm sure if not expressed here on these pages in words, will seep into my new body of work.... as it always does with creations from the heart and soul.
